Garnet Abrasive
A natural almandine garnet abrasive for waterjet cutting and blasting — low dust, recyclable, and chemically inert. Macloid Garnet Abrasive cuts fast and produces a clean, consistent surface profile.
High-Performance Natural Abrasive
Macloid Garnet Abrasive is a hard, naturally angular almandine mineral processed and graded for waterjet cutting and abrasive blasting. Its high specific gravity and toughness deliver fast, efficient cutting while resisting breakdown, so far less dust is generated compared with copper slag and mineral sand abrasives.
The mineral is chemically inert, chloride-free, and very low in free crystalline silica, making it both a safer and a cleaner choice. Blasted surfaces are left contamination-free with a uniform anchor profile ready for protective coatings, without the flash-rusting risk associated with reactive media.
Garnet survives multiple passes and can be reclaimed and recycled in closed-loop systems, reducing both consumption and waste disposal. Tight grading across waterjet and blasting cuts ensures repeatable results batch after batch.

Advantages
Low Dust Generation
High specific gravity and low friability mean garnet breaks down slowly, producing far less airborne dust than slag abrasives for better visibility and safety.
Fast Cutting Speed
The hard, angular almandine crystals deliver rapid stock removal in waterjet and blasting operations, improving throughput.
Recyclable
Tough garnet survives multiple passes and can be reclaimed and recycled in closed-loop systems, lowering cost per part and disposal volume.
Chemically Inert
Natural garnet is inert and chloride-free, leaving a clean surface suitable for coating without flash rusting concerns.
Low Free Silica
Garnet contains negligible free crystalline silica, reducing operator health risk compared with sand and some mineral abrasives.
Consistent Profile
Tight grading produces a uniform anchor profile that meets coating-adhesion specifications repeatably.
