From steel to shot

The manufacturing process

Five stages of controlled precision, designed for consistency and full traceability from melt to dispatch.

Raw material selection

Premium steel scrap and carbon steel billets are sourced from certified Indian suppliers. Every batch undergoes spectrometric chemical analysis — carbon, manganese, silicon, sulfur, phosphorus — before it enters the production floor.

Induction melting

Raw materials are charged into high-capacity induction furnaces at 1,600°C. Automated temperature control and real-time carbon monitoring systems verify precise chemical composition for each product grade mid-process.

Atomization

High-pressure water jets break the molten steel stream into micro-droplets that solidify instantly into spherical shot. Our towers process up to 8 tons of molten steel per hour through closed-circuit water systems.

Heat treatment

Sized shot passes through a continuous rotary furnace — austenitizing at 850–900°C, rapid water quench, temper at 200–300°C. This achieves 40–51 HRC for shot and 55–65 HRC for grit with a consistent martensitic microstructure.

Quality testing

Every production batch is tested in our metallurgical lab: Rockwell hardness, bulk density, microstructure analysis, sieve distribution and visual defect inspection. Batches outside specification are rejected and reprocessed.

Induction furnace

4 units × 5-ton capacity. Fully automated temperature control with real-time carbon monitoring throughout each melt cycle.

Water atomization tower

3 towers, 8 MT/hour throughput each. Closed-circuit water recycling keeps the process clean and resource-efficient.

Automated screening system

8 multi-deck vibratory screening lines covering 15 size grades from 0.2 mm to 3.0 mm per SAE J444 designations.
